Earthquake Relief Poem

Always together, dead or alive
Where did your dream go
As life continues, the sky becomes gloomy
You look for the dreams of tomorrow
Your cries will forever in my blood flow

Always together, dead or alive
I wait for word of you every second
I pray with you that we breathe together
Believing life will never end
My heart is with you, where can you be?
And your eyes are the whole world to me

Wherever you are, I will find you
The bond (of blood) makes miracles, and for life we strive
Wherever you are, I will find you
Hand in hand, together always, dead or alive

Always together, dead or alive
When the world is silenced
We shed no tears though in pain
For of love you are legend
And rainbows are rising after wind and rain
I see love’s strength in search of you
Wherever you are, I will find you
The bond (of blood) makes miracles, and mountains rise again
Wherever you are, I will find you
If the sky breaks, we will sew it
Your glimmer of hope is all power of me
Your road home is what my hands will be

Wherever you are, I will find you
The bond (of blood) makes miracles, and on life we thrive
Wherever you are, I will find you
Hand in hand, together always, dead or alive

Pandas in Largest Reserve Believed Safe

Published by admin under China news

The 100-plus pandas in China’s largest giant panda reserve in Gansu Province, which were reported to be missing after the May 12 earthquake, are considered to be safe and well, local forestry officials said on Thursday.

“All the pandas in the reserve are safe, according to our experience,” Li Shiren, an official of the Baishuijiang Nature Reserve Administration told the Beijing Morning Post.

The researchers traced fresh excrements of pandas and heard their sounds for many times. And the 64 forest rangers, who live in the reserve all year long, didn’t find any abnormal behaviors of the pandas.

“Giant panda is a very sensitive animal. It will stay in its cave if anything unusual happens. Besides, pandas in the reserve will go down the hill everyday to drink water, which makes it easy for our workers to spot anything out of the way,” Li added.

Li also confirmed the bamboos in the reserve, which is a major source of food for the pandas, remain sufficient in amount.

The latest national census of giant pandas, which lasted from 1999 to 2001, counted 103 of the animals in Baishuijiang, the largest of China’s 55 giant panda reserves. The area is within 100 kilometers of the hardest-hit counties of Sichuan.

“Our reserve was seriously affected by the quake,” Li Shiren added.

The administration’s seven work stations in the reserve were damaged to different extents, and the mountain roads were all blocked. 50 forestry workers in the mountain lost contacts with the administration for about one day after the quake hit, but were confirmed safe later, according to Li.

After the quake, the administration sent two teams, about 90 researchers altogether, into the reserve to check out the pandas’ safety, and the second team has just returned on Wednesday.
